In engineering, the publication ranks Texas A&M No. 6 in graduate industrial engineering, No. 8 in electrical engineering and engineering management programs and No. 9 civil engineering. The graduate program in mechanical engineering is ranked No. 11.

Texas A&M’s graduate program in nursing also fares well and is ranked No. 9.

The publication notes that since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic that has disrupted college classes throughout the country, the need for quality online programs has never been greater.

“Web-based education had already been gaining momentum in higher education, and nearly 3.3 million higher education students enrolled exclusively in distance education programs in fall 2018, according to the National Center for Education Statistics,” U.S. News editors said.

Interim President John L. Junkins said that Texas A&M will continue to offer high-impact online courses.

“As advanced technologies offer new opportunities for teaching and learning, we are seeing the influence of Texas A&M extend from the local area to distant reaches around the globe,” Junkins said. “The latest online rankings in business, education and engineering demonstrate that, even in challenging times, students and parents appreciate the transformative power of an Aggie education.”

Added Interim Provost and Executive Vice President Mark Weichold, “We are honored to see Texas A&M University’s graduate programs recognized among the top echelon of national rankings. Texas A&M is committed to providing a world-class education to classroom and online learners alike, and that commitment is what made possible our recent top 10 ranking for online graduate programs. The new Graduate and Professional School we launched in January will further enhance our abilities to recruit outstanding students and provide them with even more support for graduate and professional education.”
